During this week we
had to complete a preliminary task. We had to make sure we incorporated three
aspects of camerawork which were; 180 degree angle, shot reverse shot, and
match on action. Before we started filming we had to plan what we were going to
do, so we created a storyboard and a script. I and Daniella were in charge of
the storyboard. We had to make sure we incorporated three aspects of camerawork
and in each scene the actors knew what to do. After we had finished filming I
edited my preliminary task using Imovie this helped me develop my skills. I
then analysed my preliminary task which helped me to identify where we went
wrong to make sure we didn't make the same mistakes in the future.

14/11/16
During the half term everyone
in my group had to create their own individual production name and logo which
we would use for our film. I created two logos where were "Still In
Action" and "Fire Production". After as a group we came together
and discussed which logo would stand out and therefore we decided to choose
Ritik's logo as it was unique and would grab the audiences attention. I created
a blogger, Emaze and Slideshare account as we would use these accounts
frequently during the process.

During this week, we
filmed our shot by shot remake we originally wanted to remake Fault In Our
Stars, but there were a lot of difficulties that had occurred and we were not
happy with the final product for fault in our stars when editing and therefore
as a group we decided to change our decision and recreate Iorgins.
Week beginning -
28/11/16
Everyone in my team
had to analyse the shot by shot remake to see what went well and what we could
have done better to make our final remake even more better. As a team we all
worked together to create a presentation for the purpose of film opening we
created this on Slideshare. During this week I had also analysed two film
openings of my choice which were "The Babadook" and
"Takers" I evaluated the conventions and MECS that were used in the
film. To help us decide which genre we would pick for our final film opening I
created pros and cons for two initial choices we might pick which were Horror
and Crime/Thriller as our genre. I had then analysed another AS students work
and evaluated what went well and even better if for their film opening. After I
analysed two another film openings, but this time it was for our chosen genre.
I analysed "Now You See Me" and "Spy" I examined the MECS
that are being used in the two films and this gave me an idea of what we should
incorporate in our film I also evaluated the, MICRO elements and the
conventions of the two films.

05/12/16
During this week, I created a billing order I had to create a timeline for three movies which were, Fast and Furious 7, The Bababook and The Cabin In The Woods this gave me an idea of where the credits should be placed and how long it should be on the screen. This has helped me to see the similarities, fonts and differences for all the film openings. As a group we decided to split up the theories for story and narrative. I took the role upon Todorov and researched his theory. We also split up the theories for representation I did gender and place. We
chose our target audience which was males aged 16-24. We made questions that we
would ask our target audience which will help us to see what they expect in a
crime/thriller film and try to incorporate it in our film. We then planned our
Day Of Life and what will happen in each scene. We went to a Ealing Broadway
and took photos of shops that our target audience is more likely to shop at.I then
researched the famous director James Wan and examined his skills, techniques
etc when he films.
Week beginning -
12/12/16
During this week, in
order to gain more knowledge about our target audience we decided to do vox pop
we planned the questions we will ask to our target audience however, we did this two
times because of technical difficulties that had occurred during the second time I
was helping with the camera and making sure it was filmed correctly I also
helped in the editing process. We distributed the job roles between us. I
decided to take the role upon production designer, but however we would still
help each other out in different roles. In addition to this I made a poster for
my role to see what is expected of me and the jobs and responsibilities I would
need to carry out. During this week we also played a random story game
which consisted of us thinking of a plot in time conditions. We were given
location, prop and setting and we had to come up with a plot this was
very useful because it helped me think more creatively. I decided to do
additional research and analyse another AS students film opening and evaluated
WWW and EBI.
Week beginning -
19/12/16
During this week,
everyone in my group had to come up with their own story. We had to include a
head on, log line, plot and working title. My working title was called
"The Market" I chose this title because it would grab the audiences
attention. Individually we all had to present our story in front of the class I
then received feedback from my classmates on what went well and even better if.
The class then had an opportunity to vote for whos story they liked the most.
Daniella and Zeel were both tied, but however we decided to pick Daniellas
because it was unique and would grab the audiences attention it was also easier
to understand on what was happening. We then analysed a script to see how a
script is formatted and where everything should be placed. I also evaluated
different job roles and what is expected of them, so I can help out in each
role this was part of an additional task.
Week beginning -
9/01/17
During this week, I
annotated two film openings I had to analyse the script in terms of how micro
elements were incorporated in the film, so therefore I used four different
colours to differentiate them. This helped me to understand how a script is
laid out and therefore I will be able to support the script writer. For our
green light meeting we decided to create a guide for out green light meeting,
so we had an idea of what we were going to say. We then pitched our green light
meeting we included common conventions, problems that will arise and how we
will overcome them, budget and marketing techniques.
Week beginning -
16/01/17
During this week, I
uploaded the green light meeting onto blogger. As a group we annotated script
to screen for Jigsaw we helped me to see how they incorporated MECS into their
film opening. Daniella created the script for her story and I read over it to
see if any changes needed to be made. After the first draft was done as a group
we did a run through of the script. I also decided to complete another
additional task for target audience.
Week beginning -
23/01/17
During this week,
Daniella and Zeel did a second read through of our second draft. After our
final script was made I decided to do a script breakdown of our film. I took
the role upon script analysis and had to analyse the plot and covered; plot,
theme, logic, exposition, complication, tension, main question, main action,
cause of the action, resulting action, conclusion, protagonist, antagonist and
location. I then annotated our final script for script blocking and took the
role upon production designer and therefore I had to identify and annotate
mise-en-scene that we incorporated into our script. After we did the third run through for our script we decided to make a few changes, so therefore I had to annotate our script again and took the role upon production designer.
Week beginning -
30/01/17
During this week,
Ritik, Daniella and I did location scouting we listed several of locations that
we might use and listed all the pros and cons this helped us decide which
location would be suitable to film. I then took pictures of all the locations
that we incorporated into location scouting. During this week I also decided to
complete another additional task I researched the type of music/sound that is
used in crime/thriller films, so therefore this gave me an idea of what type of
sound we should use to make our film more interesting, grab the audiences
attention and create suspense.
Week beginning -
06/02/17
During this week, I
did costumes, props & make-up I included all the aspects of
mise-en-scene that we will be in our film opening. We then did casting to find the best actors that will
play the role for our characters. I helped film the casting and the helped with
the editing process. Daniella and I then made the final title credits and I
also did the risk assessment.
Week beginning -
13/02/17
During this week, we
planned what we were going to do during the half term and picked a date for
filming where everyone was available. As I was production designer I decided to
buy the props that will be needed such as; guns, handcuffs and a ring. We then
finished shooting our film opening according to the production schedule. I also
decided to do research on the type of sound we could use for our final film opening.
Week beginning -
27/02/17
During this week, we
looked at all the shots we filmed and decided which one would be appropriate to
use however, there were a few that we decided not to use because it wasn't
focused and too shaky. I decided to create our poster for our film and complete
other remaining tasks I had to do.
Week beginning -
06/03/17
During this week,
while we were editing our rough cut we realised we had to redo some shots
because they were not shot properly, so Zeel and I decided to film them again.
I helped with the camera to make sure the angles were filmed correctly. I
helped with the transition cut and choosing the relevant shots. We also
discussed as a group which tasks we will do together we chose question 2 and 4.
Week beginning -
13/03/17
During this week, we
created our transition cut and added the new shots me and Zeel had taken this
made our final product look even more better. After Daniella and I went on
different websites to find suitable fonts that we could use. After a lot of
discussion we came to an agreement and decided our two final fonts that we will
be using for our film opening. We wanted to make sure the fonts we used matched
our genre, was readable and it flowed with the sound. I planned my evaluation
questions and started question 3. I filmed question Q3 and edited it on Imovie.
Week beginning -
20/03/17
During this week, we
recorded our voiceover. I started question 5 I originally was going to hold the
piece of paper in front of the camera, however, this wasn't creative and
therefore I decided to write it on paper and record myself while doing this. I
then created a voice over. After I edited the footage on imovie and uploaded it
on blogger. I decided to create Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts to
promote our film and reach out to our target audience. I also decided to do
question 6.
Week beginning -
27/03/17
During this week, I
went through our blog to see whether any tasks were missing and if there were
any I will complete the remaining tasks. Daniella and I also chose our font for
our main title Fracture. We decided we will do question 4 individually and we will
continue doing question 2 as a group. And therefore during this week Daniella
and I planned question 2 and everyone then did a voiceover. I also decided to
do question 6 this week. I also created several of posters in order to create
awareness for our film this was part of the promotional material. I decided to
do question 7 as well which I did on Prezi. I did question 4 on Powtoon.
Week beginning - 03/04/17
During this week I uploaded any work that was missing in blogger we also added foley sounds to our film opening to make it more realistic and we also changed the music. After receiving feedback we made a few changes and to our final film opening cut once is was was completed I was able to complete question 1 for my evaluation question. I also gave feedback to Ritik during the process while he was editing our film opening. I uploaded any work that was missing in Blogger.
