Week Beginning 7/11/16In this week we were asked to compose a preliminary task that consisted of match on action , the 180 degree rule and shot reverse shot . I took it upon myself to write the script for our preliminary intending to make it achievable and easy to understand for me and the rest of the group. Once done Sonali and I made the storyboard as a visual for the idea and chose certain shot types that worked well. As someone that is inexperienced with the equipment used such as the camera and the tripod I was hesitant on the day that we filmed. I provided more of a vocal input though that came across as just as useful. In terms of editing the material we individually created a final edit of our preliminary which helped me better familiarize myself with iMovie.

Week Beginning 14/11/16This week individually we created possible logos and production names. The two names I came up with were Flight productions and Ember productions. We all had very different styles and types of logos but in the end decided to go with Ritik's production name which is Supernova Studios. I believe that collectively this is a good choice as it is memorable and distinctive.

Week Beginning 21/11/16In this week we conducted a shot by shot remake of a chosen film opening. This was not the best example of group effort as we left our decisions to last minute and changed our minds too often making the creation of the shot by shot remake more challenging. We initially chose to recreate the fault in our stars but  we not satisfied with how it came across in editing and finally after some struggle we chose to recreate I origins. This helped further familiarize with both filming and editing.

Week Beginning 28/11/16During this week we had to individually analyse what went well and improvements for our shot by shot remake. We collaboratively created a power point on the purpose of a film opening. I completed the slide on the conventions of a film opening learning what must be present on a film opening and the rest of the group did there own slides. Prior to the selection of our genre I analysed the openings  of two films through MECS these were"Carrie" a horror and"He's Just not that Into you" a romantic comedy to notice the differences between types of openings for different openings. To get knowledge on what our opening could be like I analysed the opening of previous students through the opening "Echoes" to heighten my knowledge of conventions and how they are carried out. I also made a poster on the importance of genre.Once crime/thriller was decided collectively I further analysed "American Gangster" and "The Godfathers" opening to get a better insight on our chosen genres style of introduction.

Week Beginning 5/12/16 In this week we explored our target audience, we settled for an age range of 16-24, due to the rating of the film at 15. We planned questions that we could answer in our target audience profile that we decided to present as a Day in the life. As a group during the weekend we went to Ealing Broadway and used the location to express our target audience. We took photos of certain shops that was expected of our target audience and used Ritik to show the person. Also in this week I created an emaze on genre typecasting to explore the use of actors as way of suggesting genre. As a group we split up the theorists for story and narrative. I explored Propp further. We equally divided the representation and I carried out research on ethnicity in our chosen genre. I researched the style of director Quentin Tarantino and found out how he used his different styles to showcase his main genres of crime and thriller.

Week Beginning 12/12/16In this week we further explored our target audience by creating a vox pop. Collectively we decided on questions that would be helpful for our opening such as music, we wrote them down and asked the question to a number of different people of our primary and secondary target audience. Though due to loss of clips it was carried out again. Concerning Job roles I researched both Director which was my main role and sound designer that was more of a group role. This helped me understand what was required of me as a director and helped me learn how to guide my group if need be. Also during this week we played a random generator game which consisted of having to make a plot by only be given a location ,a prop and a movie title. This encouraged creativity and made me realise that a location , prop and movie title do heavily influence the plot of a film.

Week Beginning 19/12/16During this week we individually had to come up with an idea for the film. We had to come up with a plot, a log line and a working title accompanied by a head on with sounds. I came up with the working title "Fracture". We then had to pitch our idea to the class. Once done we received feedback and the class voted on their favorite per group. Zeel and I tied and we decided that we were going to be making mine as it was easier to create than Zeels. We then collaboratively looked at a script to learn about the placement of different things teaching us about the layout.

Week Beginning 9 /1/17This week we had to construct a Green Light meeting that was meant to represent how we would pitch to our distribution and production companies. In our pitch we mentioned several aspects that would be relevant such as the micro elements, budgets, marketing, possible challenges and the plot itself. Zeel and I created a sizzle to provide a visual of the idea.

Week Beginning 16/1/17During this week we as a group we completed a script to screen  analysis of the independent film "Jigsaw". This was beneficial to me as it helped me understand the importance of the script and how it shapes the actions in the story. Following this we watched Jigsaw which further highlighted how a script is needed to create imagery. This was helpful for when I had to write the script. I used Celtx to write the first draft of the script which was challenging as I had to make it so that it created tension and encouraged questions as well as reflecting the genre. We did our first script read through and after receiving feed back I wrote the second draft.

Week Beginning 23/1/17In this week Zeel and I carried out script run through two and after a few changes we also did a script read through a third time. With feedback I was able to write a final script which was written after final alterations. Also I carried out a sound task on the script where I identified where sound could be used as mood and tone. In this week I did a character analysis of the three main characters Eliza, Ivy and Mason. This helped me further understand the representations that we could express in our opening of the characters I had created.

Week beginning 30/1/17This week the location scouting task was carried out by Sonali, Ritik and I, this helped us identify the practicality of the locations as we went over the pros and cons of each location. Further more in this week as the sound designer I identified different soundtracks associated with crime then thriller than I looked into music that was associated with both widening my understanding of the music of our genre. Zeel and I also created the storyboard and began to edit it in the form of an animoto.

Week Beginning 6/2/17During this week I made the shooting script for opening. This required me to consider lighting , the shot types as well as audio that goes with each clip. As a group we also decided that Sonia should be our actor after viewing the casting video created by Sonali and Zeel. Also Sonali and I  started ordering the title credits. This was done multiple times to cover all the names required and the correct order. With Zeel I played around with Garage Band to try to get a further understanding of the type of music and how it is created.

Week Beginning 13/2/17In this week I started to do the call sheet, this be a long document it took me a long time to complete it. I also did a typography task where I explored different fonts that both suited and reflected our genre.I explained my choices and how they were suited. Furthermore I made a poster on the different layers of sound. We also made plans for our shooting day, prepared for the shoot and filmed our rushes.

Week Beginning 27/2/17We looked through all the rushes that we had and decided on the clips that were worth using. The shots that we did not use were either too shaky due to lack of use of the tripod and or out of focus. The final order of the clips was decided and the edit of the rough cut had began.

Week Beginning 6/3/17After a closer look , it was realised that some of the shots needed to be filmed again so Sonali and Zeel went and did that, I was not able to go but viewed and provided opinion on the placement of the new shots and suggesting how they would benefit the representation of our genre and in terms of creating enigmas for the audience. As a group we decided that we should do 2 and 4 as our group evaluation questions.

Week Beginning 13/3/17 This week I thoroughly planned my evaluation questions to make sure that I could answer each question to the best of my ability. The transition cut was complete only leaving the sound cut left as well as credits. Following feedback on the credits , the final credit list was completed with a few additional names. Sonali and I chose the fonts we would use for the titles. We chose them based on three things clarity , reflection of genre and flow with the sound. We were yet to decide on the font for the main title of our opening. I started all of the evaluation questions though I focused initially on question 3 and 5.

Week Beginning 20/3/17I continued to do the individual evaluation questions and due to a mix up we decided that only question 2 would be the group evaluation task. I started question 4 soon after and had completed 3, 5,6 and started 7. I also started to create a promotional poster for our film. The creation of this poster made me realise that we did not have a release date for our film so I did some research into exhibition and decided on January 20th.

Week Beginning 27/3/17In this week Sonali and I chose the final font for the main title "Fracture". We chose a grungy eroded looking font to reflect the genre. We made sure that all the work on our blogger was up to date and completed any flyaway tasks. Sonali and I planned question 2 out and handed out the different questions to members of the group so that they could record a voiceover each depending on their questions. I had completed question 4 and 7.

Week Beginning 3/4/17During this week I helped Ritik apply the credits to the opening by directing him to the correct order and where they should be placed. We also worked together to get the best sounding music and new addition of Foley sounds to increase realism.Taking all feedback on the opening we made final changes and completed the sound cut. Now having our final cut I was able to start question one which is being thoroughly done to completion.
